A map that remembers
The tracking map remembers the participants you follow and where you stopped watching, so a reload or a closed app does not cost you your place.
Following a handful of participants used to be fragile. The selection lived in the address bar, and anything that reset the URL — reopening the app, a shared link without it, a browser restart on a phone — silently threw it away.
The tracking map now keeps that for you, in your own browser.
Your favorites come back
Select participants, points of interest or tracks and they are remembered for that event. Open the same event again later and your selection is still there.
Remembered per event, so following different races at the same weekend does not mix them up.
The 20 most recently watched events are kept. Older ones drop off.
Clearing the selection is remembered too — deselect everything and the map stays empty next time, rather than bringing the old selection back.
Participants who are no longer in the event are quietly dropped.
The replay resumes where you stopped
If you scrub back into a replay and then leave, the map picks that moment up again when you come back.
Only a replay position is kept. If you were watching at the live edge, you come back live — never behind it.
The position expires after 6 hours, so returning to a race still running the next day starts you live again.
Watched a replay to the end? The map starts at the beginning again instead of on the final frame.
What this means for links
A link always wins. If someone sends you a link carrying favorites or a time, you see what the sender meant, not your own last visit — see share-view.md. Your own remembered view is untouched and returns the next time you open the event without a link.
Private or incognito windows throw the stored view away when the window closes. Some browsers also block storage for maps embedded on another website, in which case the selection lasts only for that visit.
